Famous area for cyclists


The local country lanes and tracks are well suited for cycling and National Cycle Route 8's 
section from Machynlleth to Dolgellau can be picked up about 8 miles from Esgair Cottages along quiet country lanes.  Machynlleth  is about 10 miles.

The Mawddach Trail is an 8 mile track which was formerly a railway track following  the river from Morfa Mawddach, (on the South side of the Barmouth railway bridge), up to Dolgellau. It is managed by the Snowdonia National Park Authority as a leisure route for walkers and cyclists, and is part of the Sustrans Cross - Wales Cycling Route - No 8.
